Writing & Marketing Your Series
Learn how to write and promote your fictional series like a pro!
This live course starts NOVEMBER 2020.
Most authors have heard that it's easier to make a profit from a series from a standalone title. Unfortunately, that's often as much insight as the marketing experts offer.
It's time to take that one simple truth and dive deep. WHY do series sell better than standalone books? What's in it for the readers when they find a series they love? What's the best way to position your novels so people will not only test out the first book in the series but binge-read your entire fictional world?
This course will discuss both WRITING a series and SELLING a series. Your main instructor of this course is Alana Terry, and Melissa Storm will join her for some special guest lectures.
In the first section, we'll discuss how to write a compelling series that has readers dying for your next book. We'll also cover what series mistakes you want to avoid and common questions authors have about series, like:
- Cliffhangers or not?
- Standalone books or chronological?
- Can I switch POV characters mid-series?
In our MARKETING section, we'll talk about how authors can dramatically increase their series income with a few simple tweaks. We'll also cover common questions authors have about promoting their series like:
- When should I start marketing my series?
- Rapid release or not?
- Ads for book 1 or the whole series?
Who will benefit from this course:
- Authors looking to make more money (and have more fun) writing series that readers love to devour
- Authors with a current series started (or finished), as well as authors with just one book out so far and need help coming up with a strategy for their series
- Experienced authors who are already making a great living from their books and want to get their series marketing game even more optimized

Want to learn, but not excited about the video format? Not to worry! Each video is accompanied by detailed notes, which you can either read in place of watching the videos or go through to brush up on the lessons a second time.
Melissa Storm is a New York Times and multiple USA Today bestselling author of Women’s Fiction, Inspirational Romance, and Cozy Mysteries.
Despite an intense, lifelong desire to tell stories for a living, Melissa was “too pragmatic” to choose English as a major in college. Instead, she obtained her master’s degree in Sociology & Survey Methodology—then went straight back to slinging words a year after graduation anyway.
She loves books so much, in fact, that she married fellow author Falcon Storm. Between the two of them, there are always plenty of imaginative, awe-inspiring stories to share. Melissa and Falcon also run a number of book-related businesses together, including LitRing, Sweet Promise Press, Novel Publicity, Your Author Engine, and the Author Site.
When she's not reading, writing, or child-rearing, Melissa spends time relaxing at her home in the Michigan woods, where she is kept company by a seemingly unending quantity of dogs and two very demanding Maine Coon rescues. She also writes under the names of Molly Fitz and Mila Riggs.
